Exact Match Masonry Staining's System is non-toxic and non-flammable. It is not a paint, not a cover, but a product which absorbs below the surface and becomes as durable as the face of the brick, block or other masonry itself. It does not change the texture of the masonry at all. There are absolutely no maintenance costs related to our masonry staining products.

Exact Match Stains are Superior by Far to Paint

Paint, by comparison, only adheres for a time to the surface, then peels and chips easily off of masonry. Moisture behind the film of paint is always present, and when freezing temperatures reach the masonry, the water freezes and creates the natural hydraulic lifting action which forces the paint film off of the surface of the masonry. This permits more water to accumulate behind the remaining paint, which leads to even faster degradation of the painted surface when this water subsequently freezes. Even in areas of the country where temperatures rarely reach the freezing point, there is always moisture at work causing the paint film to flake and peel off. The cycle of painting and removing flaking paint and repainting is never ending. 

To maintain the paint, it must be sanded, power washed, removed and repainted at least every few years, perhaps more frequently. This leads to high maintenance costs for as long as the building stands.

During the removal process, there is a large risk of causing costly damage to the surrounding windows, doors, architectural accents, and even permanently damaging the brick itself by etching with harsh products, heavy pressure power washes or sandblasting.

This is the reason that the only advisable and industry recognized method of brick restoration is the very process Exact Match uses.

Backed by a 30 year warranty, our product is without question an Exact Match for America's Masonry. Our formula for success can be found not only in the product formulation that we use, but in the customization of the formula, customization of the color match and customization of the application method. 

Our environmentally friendly water based formula is completely odorless and contains zero V.O.C.'s and is completely non-flammable.

The industrial strength pigments in our formulas are the highest quality available world wide, and are unsurpassed in tenacity, UV resistance, and resistance to all types of degradation. These pigments include the many iron oxide based pigments which are added to raw materials in the process of manufacturing most forms of masonry in the first place.  Our pigments are absolutely compatible with all porous masonry for that reason and this compatibility helps us to recreate the color of the masonry with the most natural appearance possible. Our formula also includes a proprietary blend of potassium silicate based agents which form the inseparable bond which makes our masonry colorants as durable as they are. Our products don't just coat the surface of the masonry, they actually go a step beyond and absorb into the face of the masonry itself, bonding below the surface into a permanent chemical bond. This alkaline formulation does not degrade over time and actually works to fortify the masonry to prevent the growth of microorganisms, and undesirable plant life including discouraging the growth of fungus or mold.

For even better results with our proprietary formulation, we  choose to customize our formula for each individual application for a true Exact Match.  Each color and formulation will vary depending upon the substrate, method of application, the environment which the masonry is in, lighting conditions, appearance of the surrounding masonry, the weathering conditions which the masonry will face, as well as the texture, condition, age, and current color and desired color outcome that our client requests. Factoring in all of these variables, we create an Exact Match for our clients.

The delicate balance is determined on site by our expert artisan colorists who also adjust the formulation as needed while on site. Because of the translucent nature of our process, we do not simply create a desired color and apply it heavily to cover the current color (and texture) of the substrate. What is required is that we use the base or current masonry color and apply the appropriate translucent top coat and the combination of the two is what creates the desired color in a translucent form which does not alter the texture of the masonry. In nearly every case, the base color varies throughout the project, which calls for subtle and expert adjustments to be made as the work progresses. All factors involved must be constantly balanced to bring the uniformity and color change desired by our clients.
